Chez Tatie Clotilde: family-style Caribbean cooking
Far from the tourist scene, Chez Tatie Clotilde specialises in authentic Guadeloupean cuisine.
A mere five minutes from the beach, in a small alley in St. Anne, wafts of delicious aromas fill the late morning air from the Chez Tatie Clotilde kitchen. In this tiny picturesque restaurant – filled with eight oilcloth-covered tables, and just five minutes from the beach – its vivacious owner Clotilde serves family-style Creole home cooking. Her Guadeloupean dishes (red snapper broth, chicken colombo, boudin sausages, and cod fritters) are staples of Caribbean culinary tradition, served to you in a relaxed and friendly no-frills setting. The food - and the low prices - attract crowds of regulars, so it is it is best to book in the morning if you want to get a table for lunch. The only downside: Aunt Clotilde is an early riser and closes at night.
